The 1099 OS: Destination vs. Journey (Process 2)
The Control Problem
“I want to close 5 new clients this month.” That is a great Destination Goal. But here is the problem: You cannot control the destination. You cannot force a client to sign.
You can only control the Journey Goals. A Journey Goal is: “I will make 10 prospecting calls every morning before 10:00 AM.”
Destination vs. Journey
Process 2: Goals teaches us to distinguish between the outcome and the process. In Mentally Awake, we emphasize that high achievers are obsessed with the journey, not just the destination.
If you stare at the scoreboard (the money), you will get anxious. If you stare at the ball (the daily activity), you will score.
Obsess Over the Process
For the 1099 Entrepreneur, this shift is life-changing. It takes the pressure off the result and puts the focus on the behavior. If you hit your Journey Goals consistently, the Destination Goals inevitably follow.
Stop wishing for the sale. Start committing to the calls.
